2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Coosa Valley Academy finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. No team at Coosa Valley Academy ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The defense allowed a team record 469 points last season. The Rebels would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-19 record. Since 2010, Coosa Valley Academy has gone a combined 25-41. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Coosa Valley Academy has managed to compile a record of 107-154. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA and 33rd in the AISA. The Rebels are led by head coach Steve McCord who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Coosa Valley Academy. The Rebels have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McCord. Coach McCord's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-seven season stands at 162-140 (53.6%). His 162 wins rank 5th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach McCord's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won seven region championships. The Coosa Valley Academy Rebels will play in Class AA region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Rebels remain in AA but move from region two over to region one. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Rebels enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 20 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Rebels will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Coosa Valley Academy will be to simply win some games. The Rebels open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Chambers Academy on Friday, August 26 at Don Greene/Rebels Stadium. Last year the Chambers Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 10-3 and in second place in Class A region two. The Rebels lost in the Class A State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Abbeville Christian. They final score was 42-14 in Troy. Coosa Valley Academy and Chambers Academy have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 8-25-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2015 with Chambers Academy winning by a score of 62-20. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
